In what has to be the strangest policy move in history, James Purnell, work and pensions secretary, who has proposed controversial reforms to benefits, broadly supported by the Conservative party now wants to charge interest on loans from the Social fund at a staggering 26.7% APR!
After all the guff about banks cutting interest rates they want to raise theirs from 0% (for those on benefits in emergencies such as the cooker has just blown up and can I buy a second hand one) to nearly 27%!
Needless to say both Conservative and Labour and Liberal Democrat MP's think this is nuts!
The Mail on Sunday has this.

I am black but I will be voting for the Conservatives, and urging other black and ethnic communities to do the same, as I have done for the past 20 years for four reason reasons:
(1) For better or worse, you get what you vote for, whether in terms of tax, immigration or law and order policies.
(2) The Conservatives are not only proving to be the champions of the poor, who are predominantly but not exclusively black, as demonstrated by their strenuous opposition to the proposed 26% tax on social fund.
(3) The Conservative were also the first to champion wealth redistribution as a policy when Mr George Osborne announced the imposition of tax on non-domicile at the Conservative Party Conference in 2007.
(4) And it is the Conservative Member of Parliament Mr William Wilberforce who presented the first bill to abolish the slave trade in the United Kingdom in 1791.
What difference does it make what colour you are.
I'm against Genocide, not race.
And if they didn't steal our money in the first place there would be no need to redistibute it.
Ps Merry Christmas.

Like you, I am also against genocide, not race.
But unlike you, I suspect, I will vote for I have always got whether in terms of tax, immigration, or law and order.
Having imposed almost 100 different stealth taxes, New Labour is now proposing to impose a 27% tax on social fund, which is meant to help the poor of the poorest in society!
Merry Christmas to you too
