John Darwin, missing canoeist charged

Is it just me or is this one of the most bizarre stories of the year.

For a start we have the missing man getting listed as dead after one year, which I understand requires the signature of a minister of the government, then we have the fact that about a year after his death he moved back home and stayed there for 3 years.

We have his wife selling up and moving to Panama some 6 weeks ago and both of his sons quiting their jobs at the same time, before apparently John Darwin surfaced.

There is much more to hear about this story but what I want to know is who is going to make the film?

The BBC has this.

Maybe I am just one of life's cynics, but I smelt a rat the minute the media reported that his wife had sold up and moved to Panama in the weeks before he surfaced in that police station.
This story is bread and butter for the tabloid press, but headline news for the 24 hour media channels etc, give me a break, I was bored within 3 days.

They're going to do a remake of Lost in Space - in Hartlepool.

What a family of morons. So why exactly did he hand himself in claiming amnesia? Idiot.

As a former canoeist, I can confirm that you could not make this story up. It made me think of the Australian who tried to canoe to New Zealand recently and only just failed. I wonder if he will turn up?

This whole story questions the whole concept of human intelligence and speaks more to human greed.

I suspect he may be a candidate for Darwin Award (for stupidity).
