Is Iran about to have another revolution?

Iran held its presidential elections yesterday. They seemed to go well and people seemed to think things were a bit tight, and there would have to be a run off.

Now today we here that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has won a resounding victory.

I can't comment on whether he did or not, but what is now happening is there are many accusations of voting irregularities. A large number of Mir Hossein Mousavi supporters are young and feel stifled. In fact Iran is full of young people as it has been having a bit of a baby boom. If they get on the streets and protest about the result in large numbers then it will be interesting to see what happens.

The BBC has this.

It will only be interesting to see what happens with the benefit of a very large distance between them and us. I for one am not keen to have a close up view of the almost inevitable friction.

CaptainFF, I thought we had seats a very large distance away?

Indeed we do sir, indeed we do and for that I am more than thankful.

I dread to think what it would be like if the results of a UK election were to provoke that kind of reaction.

I saw your video on the subject. You seem to like that sort of thing!

It is difficult to know what would happen here. Large scale voter fraud is possible but only in a limited number of seats and I don't think they would be enough. More than that would be difficult to organise this far away from an election and crucialy require to many compliant people to bring it off and keep quiet.
