Gerry McCann close to breakdown due to press pressure, Express reports

It is hard to make this sort of story up, but according to the Sunday Express Gerry McCann is close to a nervous breakdown because of all the media speculation. So what do they do?

Speculate some more!

To be fair to the Daily and Sunday Diana though, the report does say that Gerry is close to breaking point over what is being reported in the Portuguese media.

I'm sure he must be, poor man. But like Diana before them, the McCanns are learning how cruel the media can be.

Welshcakes, yes. The press take a view that once they are interested in you they can sell stories off your dead body if they wish.

I have to say I feel for the McCann's.

If they did not leave the kids alone that night this situation would never have happened is this the first time they left the kids? why did they have a sedetive kit on holliday ? kates mother said that the evidence was planted if this was true the police would know where maddie is ? they are guilty of neglecting the kids on that night, did something happen to maddie earlyier that day before they said she had been taken ?

I agree with an earlier poster, IF THEY DIDN'T LEAVE THE CHILDREN, THEN THIS CHILD WOULD NOT BE MISSING. I KNOW I WOULD HAVE BEEN CHARGED WITH NEGLECT IF I LEFT MY CHILDREN ALONE WHILE I WENT TO EAT.
All I am going to do is pray that someone finds this child and she is safe. I pray that the one who took her or hurt her is caught at any cost.

With the car in question being a hire car,& DNA supposedly found in it.I feel that the police should investigate (through the hire firm) ALL WHO HAVE HIRED THE CAR SINCE MADDIE WENT MISSING.it is quite possible that who ever took her could have used the same car

The police in Portugal and the UK know more than the public right now. What seems to grab my attention is the fact that there has been little or no reaction from Madeleine's parent's of claims that their child may be dead. I know that I would be devastated by their claims and instead of worrying about whether the evidence shows my guilt or innocence I would be worrying about whether it proves my child is dead or alive.

Yes I agree with that they seem to have tremendous composure, tremendous strength.

It would be a great travesty if they are innocent of any involvement in their daughters disappearance, on the other hand it would be the most unforgivable and wicked incident of modern times if they are not. The world has prayed for them, we have all wanted nothing more for them than the return of their daughter.

To me the audience with the Pope just appeared to be a reward for their bad behaviour in leaving Maddy alone.

I hope they are not guilty, but how dreadful if a National Police force are capable of such corruption.
