Rats join sinking ship!

In what has to be a somewhat unusual move two rats appear to have joined a rapidly sinking whip.

These would be two Conservative members of the House of Lords who have joined UKIP, namely Lord Pearson of Rannoch and Lord Willoughby de Broke. You can read the article in the Times here.

It will be remembered that Nigel Farrage was elected leader after the farce with Robert "The Tangerine Man" Kilroy Silk joined and left to form his own party VeritArse (Who he then left).

UKIP now seem to be in some sort of state of complete collapse with local associations collapsing all over the place like for example Southend, West Dorset and now Plymouth!

West Brom Blog has this, whilst Iain Dale has this and the BBC has this.

Of course the Times article has it as bad new for David Cameron, but you have to laugh don't you? If two people, clearly dafter than a brush rush to join a sinking ship you have to say good riddence, and *cough* good bye! (Or words to that effect)

GREED IS A SIN, CONSERVATIVES. THE LORD HAS NOTHING GOOD TO SAY ABOUT IT SO WHY IS YOUR ENTIRE LIFE ORGANIZED AROUND IT ? CORRUPTION AND WAR ARE END PRODUCTS OF GREED. AREN'T YOU THE STANDARD BEARERS FOR JESUS CHRIST - HOW COME YOU DON'T KNOW THIS? JESUS CHRIST IS ON THE VERGE OF DESTROYING AMERICA (MYSTERY BABYLON) FOR ITS EVIL. I'M AN AMERICAN, LIKE JEREMIAH, WHO'S TRYING TO WARN HIS PEOPLE AWAY FROM DISASTER:

Interesting. 'Sinking' implies going down, but it is Conservative Party membership that is falling not UKIP's which is the only UK party with an increasing membership.

It looks like you used the word 'join' when 'leave' would have been more accurate!

It is fun to watch how Tories seek to spin the loss of a few associations that oppose UKIP's shift to a broad agenda instead of their preferred 100% focus on the EU.

truthmonger, thanks for you comments.

The two Anonymous posters: Well chaps if UKIP is in such fine health how come you did so poorly in the Horsham Council by election last year?

Hmm... UKIP is the Sinking ship!

When did an *increasing* membership represent a sinking ship?

How many thousands is Tory Party membership down since Cameron was elected? The fact they are admitting a fall probably means it is much higher.

So the Tories have a falling membership and are losing many senior members to UKIP and you call UKIP the sinking ship!

No wonder the Times reported that Tory members have a very different view of their party than the rest of the country...

Another Anonymous Poster!

So what is your current member ship, and waht ha it been in the last 5 years?

Where are your figures for Conservative party membership?

Who cares about two fossils who lost the Conservative whip in 2004?

So would you rather be out at sea in a small but solid boat or a sinking rusty old tanker that is spilling membership oil across the oceans?

It doesn't matter how great the tanker once way, it now has a great big hole in the side and is going down!

Anonymous, Would I rather be in small rowing boat or a massive fishing vessel that is throwing the useless and puny fish back into the sea?

I think the answer is obvious. Still, we will have to see how UKIP get on in may won't we.

Not that Tories are particularly interested in truth, but it should also be noted that the Plymouth branch did not close down. That was just the words of one of the digruntled who walked out. Despite reports of 100+ leaving, only 12 actually did!

UKIP won't make massive gains in May, but if the Tories remain hostile then come the next election, it will make all the difference and you know it.

Anonymous, I do apologise, sorry if we have hiot a bit if a nerve. So you still have a Plymouth branch. Well done!

As for UKIP not making massive gains in May, LOL, that has to be the undertatement of the year. I doubt you will get more than 5 and would not be surprised if you get none at all.

The question is I guess, if you are right and UKIP are that bad, then how come all the defections are in one direction....

Benedict White said...

Anonymous, i put it down to the failure of 'Care in the Community' to be honest ;)

People join UKIP for various reasons. We are picking up defections from more middle of the road people.

and so are UKIP dear boy.

UKIP welcomes members who use the spelling good riddance to those who use good riddence. UKIP members should be sensitive to the difference between "ence" and "ance".
